Testing 1, 2, 3……

Testing a synth gives me an unexpected ambient track.

UPS truck rolls up……soldering begins now!

The synth is done.  The glitter shimmers, the LEDs laser blast faces, and the sounds are nice and phat.  The shruthi allows 4 CV ins, so I took apart two gamecube controllers and decided it would be cool to use their analog sticks as CV inputs.  I originally wanted to house the sticks on the glitter box, but Hipporacle suggested I use the controller body.  That’s an even better idea…..so here’s the dilemma…..should FLCON FCKER’s new toy have the silver or black gamecube controller body?

There’s a poll here.  Vote

I put shimmer on all my projects!  This new synth is gonna have super bright LEDs, glitter, awesome sounds and two analog sticks inputs.  I can’t wait!!!!

The new glitter paint job on my analog synth.

I want to revisit the idea of having two functional analog units in a shaggadelic enclosure. I think I’ll make one unit a drone engine of some sort and the other a synth from mutable. Thanks to Olivier for being such an awesome engineer!!

Holy shit balls….. this is a crazy innovative guitar design.

Pretty soon, an ipad is all you’ll need…….

This is great.

I can’t get this song out of my head.  I love the vocals.  Skinnerbox also has a neat max for live application available through ableton.

His choice of what to mashup is awesome.

Made some major progress, finally.  Videos and sound files are in the works.  I’ll likely open her up a couple of more times to update firmware and replace my 22 AWG braided wire with something that bends easier.  With so many wires each contributing their resistance (I don’t mean electrical), It becomes hard to close the unit.  I also don’t like those kitchen knob looking things on the rotary encoders .  It’s all I had on hand. The last thing would be fixing the contrast on the screens so they’re all of similar intensity.  It’s hard to tell the top right screen is yellow.

Now to read up on control voltage and hack this bad boy to have some parameter controlled by my thoughts!

The Importance of Using Color Codes When Wiring

I guess I got too anxious and flubbed the last button.

I received a faceplate I ordered for a monome clone I’ve been wrestling with for the last few months in the mail today.  I’m not impressed.  I think I could have had this made at Ponoko or FrontPanelExpress out of the same material, with the same dimensions, for less money.  But fuck it.  I just want to get these two things built so I can get some regular sleep.  I need to get some fancy wood and stain, but first I’m still wiring my weird 4 shruthi synth.  Using individual wires became too difficult.  I switched to ribbon cables.
